PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT
Effervescent hydration tablets for sport dogs
PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT is an innovative effervescent tablet designed for the hydration and rehydration of sport dogs. Its rapid dissolution in water, without stirring or clumping, makes it a simple and effective solution to maintain the dog’s fluid balance before, during, and after exercise. Developed with a French veterinarian, Dr. Maud Clavel, a consultant specialized in animal nutrition, Hydra Sport provides a complete recharge of electrolytes and fast energy thanks to dextrose.
MADE IN FRANCE
Developed with a French laboratory, PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT comes in individual tablets that are easy to transport and hygienic. They dissolve instantly in 250 to 500 mL of water, with no complex preparation, to offer a ready-to-use hydration drink.
A UNIQUE FORMULA THAT SUPPORTS RECOVERY
Hydra Sport provides an essential combination to help prevent dehydration in dogs:
Dextrose: a rapidly absorbed sugar that helps replenish muscle and liver glycogen stores after activity, supporting recovery when combined with electrolytes. It also promotes water absorption in the intestine.
Glycine: a non-essential amino acid involved in many key metabolic processes. It contributes to the synthesis of glutathione, a major cellular antioxidant, as well as creatine, which plays a role in muscular energy production. It helps maintain oxidative balance after exercise.
Sodium: stimulates thirst, promotes water retention, and supports nerve transmission.
Potassium: contributes to heart function and muscular recovery after exercise.
Chloride: maintains acid-base balance and cellular electrical charge.
FOR WHICH DOGS?
PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT is recommended for:
- Sport dogs: canicross, mushing, agility, bikejoring, ring, hunting, or any endurance activity.
- Dogs exposed to high temperatures or prolonged effort.
- Dogs recovering from diarrhea, vomiting, or heat stroke.
PREVENTION, RECOVERY, AND PERFORMANCE
Before exercise: ensures optimal pre-hydration to support performance.
During or after exercise: rapidly compensates for water and electrolyte losses.
In extreme conditions: supports recovery and helps prevent dehydration.

Dissolve 1 tablet (25 g) in 250 to 500 mL of water for a 20–30 kg dog.
- Before exercise: 2 to 3 hours before the activity.
- After exercise: within 20 minutes after the effort, to optimise recovery.
Also use in cases of high heat, during recovery (diarrhoea, heatstroke, vomiting), or when travelling in hot weather.
How to Use PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT?
Dissolve the tablet in the indicated amount of water, according to the type of effort and the dog’s weight: one 25 g tablet in 250 to 500 mL of water for a 20–30 kg dog.
Notes:
• No mixing required, it dissolves instantly.
• The colder the water, the longer complete dissolution may take.
How long can I keep the prepared solution?
Ideally, use the drink within 12 hours of preparation, stored in a cool place.
Can I use PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT outside of sport?
Yes, it is even recommended in certain situations: intense heat, recovery after diarrhoea or heatstroke, travel in hot weather… In these cases, follow the recommended dosages to avoid mineral overload.
Can I mix PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT with other supplements?
It is preferable not to combine it with other electrolyte supplements to avoid excessive sodium or potassium intake. However, it can be used alongside a meal or with appropriate energy supplements.
The colour of the solution changes over time — is this normal?
If the solution becomes brown, this is normal. It is called the Maillard reaction — a natural caramelisation process. It is not toxic. If this happens, it means the solution has been reconstituted for too long, but there is no danger for the dog.
What if my dog doesn’t drink right away?
Offer the rehydration solution again every hour.
What if my dog has diarrhoea after drinking PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT?
Check the dilution: follow the recommended proportions.
Give several small servings instead of a single large bowl.
If symptoms persist or worsen, stop using the product and consult a veterinarian.
Note: after exercise, physiological diarrhoea is common — it may be unrelated to the rehydration solution.
What are the benefits of each electrolyte in PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT?
Sodium (Na⁺)
Stimulates thirst via osmoreceptors, encouraging the dog to drink. Maintains blood osmolarity* and water balance. Essential for nerve transmission and muscle contraction.
Potassium (K⁺)
Supports muscle contraction and heart function. Helps regulate water inside and outside the cells. Contributes to muscle recovery after exercise.
Chloride (Cl⁻)
Maintains the electrical charge of cells. Essential for the production of hydrochloric acid (digestion). Contributes to acid–base balance.
Dextrose
Provides immediately available energy. Improves sodium and water absorption in the intestine. Supports rapid replenishment of glycogen stores after exercise.
What is the benefit of adding glycine to PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT?
What is glycine?
Glycine is a non-essential amino acid involved in several metabolic pathways (notably the synthesis of glutathione, a major cellular antioxidant, and creatine, involved in muscle energy production).
Why add glycine to a rehydration drink?
In the intestine, transporters absorb sodium together with certain amino acids (including glycine). When sodium + glycine are absorbed together, water naturally follows — optimising hydration. This is the same principle used in oral rehydration solutions.
Is it proven that glycine “helps absorb” water?
Yes. Sodium–amino acid co-transport is well documented, and ORS formulas containing glycine have long been used in humans and animals. The goal is not to replace glucose (another transporter) but to multiply intestinal “entry routes” for sodium and therefore water.
Is it “better” than glucose alone?
Not necessarily better — complementary. Clinical studies show that adding amino acids (including glycine) supports absorption. Results vary between species, but the mechanism is robust. This is why glucose and glycine are combined.
What is the practical benefit for a sport dog?
Efficient hydration after exercise or in hot weather thanks to sodium–glycine co-transport (water follows sodium).
Cellular support: glycine is a precursor of glutathione and may contribute to oxidative balance after effort (mainly shown in other species, biologically plausible).
Is it safe for my dog?
Yes, at nutritional doses, glycine has a favourable safety profile in animal nutrition. Like any electrolyte drink containing sodium, seek advice in cases of renal/cardiac disease or sodium-restricted diets.
Is glycine a “doping” substance?
No. It is a nutrient naturally present in food and in the body. It is not classified as a doping agent for sport dogs.
In which situations is a glycine-based drink most useful?
• After prolonged activity (>30–45 min) or in high heat
• Between heats (agility, ring…) to encourage voluntary drinking
• During travel/stress when water intake may decrease
Why not simply mix water + sugar + salt at home?
Correct sugar/electrolyte ratios and osmolarity are essential: homemade mixes can be too concentrated and worsen dehydration. Ready-to-use drinks are isotonic and formulated to optimise absorption.
In summary, glycine is a non-essential amino acid that, when combined with sodium in an isotonic drink, facilitates water absorption in the intestine and encourages drinking — two key advantages for rapid rehydration in sport dogs.
Why hydrate your dog?
Water is essential for all vital functions: nutrient transport, temperature regulation, waste elimination, and maintaining blood volume. During exercise or heat exposure, dogs lose water mainly through panting, which can quickly affect performance and recovery. Proper hydration before, during and after activity helps prevent dehydration and support muscle function.
Why is pre-hydration important?
Starting exercise already well hydrated helps maintain performance longer. Pre-hydration increases the body’s water reserves and limits net losses during effort. This supports stable blood volume, better oxygen transport, and more efficient heat dissipation.
Why not rely only on flavoured water?
Flavouring encourages drinking but does not replace lost electrolytes. Without sodium, potassium and chloride, hydration is incomplete and can lead to imbalances (hypo-osmolarity*).
What is the role of electrolytes?
Sodium stimulates thirst, encouraging water intake before and during exercise. Sodium, potassium and chloride maintain blood osmolarity* and proper water distribution inside and outside cells. This supports plasma volume — essential for muscle perfusion and cooling — and helps limit muscle breakdown observed when only flavoured drinks are used.
Why add fast sugar?
Simple sugars like dextrose are rapidly absorbed and provide immediate energy. After exercise, they help restore muscle and liver glycogen, improving recovery. Combined with electrolytes, they also enhance water absorption in the intestine.
What is my dog’s water requirement?
At rest:
40 to 60 mL of water/kg/day for a healthy adult dog.
During exercise or in hot weather:
Needs may double or quadruple.
In endurance/high temperature: 100 to 200 mL/kg/day.
What dosage of PRO TEAM HYDRA SPORT should I use depending on the effort?
General dosage (adapt to the dog’s weight):
Dissolve one 25 g tablet in 250 to 500 mL of water for a 20–30 kg dog.
