WHY PRO TEAM SPORT NUTRITION ?

Sporting dogs have surprising and impressive athletic qualities!

Their activity, which is much higher than that of a sedentary dog, requires a specific energy intake and nutritional needs.

To maintain their physical abilities, in terms of agility, speed or endurance, a dedicated and expert diet is key. Like athletes, their diet is at the heart of a healthy lifestyle to preserve their vitality and good health, allowing them to grow, flourish and age well.

PRO TEAM RANGE MEETS 3 MAIN OBJECTIVES

Help the dog's physical condition

Cover energy needs to ensure performance throughout the activity

Preserve health and accelerate recovery

The performance of your sporting dog depends first of all on a balanced and precise supply of macronutrients.

There are seven basic components in the diet:
lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, vitamins, minerals, trace elements and water.

LIPIDS

The most energetic source providing about 9 kcal/g.

Lipids include fatty acids, their derivatives and metabolites.

The main role of lipids is to maintain your dog’s energy and body weight. They also have structural roles.

All PRO TEAM recipes contain a minimum of 1% fish oil, rich in essential fatty acids:

Omega 3 (EPA-DHA), which has a pro-anti-inflammatory role
Omega 6, which promotes healthy skin and a beautiful coat

CARBOHYDRATE

An important source for digestion and muscle oxygenation.

Carbohydrates are a significant source of energy since they provide 4 kcal/g.

Only oligosaccharides and polysaccharides are used in PRO TEAM formulation.

Oligosaccharides are essential to the health of the intestinal microbiota.
In order to improve digestive comfort, legumes (peas, chickpeas, lentils, etc.), which are sources of Galacto-Oligosaccharides (GOS), have been removed or limited and Fructooligosaccharides (FOS), such as beetroot, have been preferred.

Polysaccharides (glycogen and insoluble fibers) are important in the sports world.

Present in the liver and muscles, glycogen stores energy in reserve and has the property of being able to quickly release glucose molecules into the blood. Insoluble fibers facilitate digestive transit.

At PRO TEAM, we choose to use carbohydrate from rice, a gluten-free cereal (free of gliadins & glutenins) known for its ease of digestion.

PROTEINS

Important for muscle mass and cell renewal.

Proteins are also a significant source of energy since they provide about 4 kcal/g.

The importance of proteins is mainly linked to the quality of the amino acids that constitute them. This is why we have chosen to focus on high quality protein sources, mainly from chicken, lamb or fish.

SPECIFIC MICRONUTRIENTS

The diet of sporting dogs also requires specific micronutrients that are essential for their metabolism, acting on their motor and cardiac functions and on the nervous system:

Vitamins
Minérals
Trace elements

THE SPORTING DOG

Whether your dog is athletic or simply active, a sled dog, a hunting dog, a rescue dog, a herding dog, a racing dog, or a simple companion who runs alongside you, plays and follows your sports activities, he needs a diet adapted to his activity.

The diet of a sporting dog varies according to his activity and can vary from one season to another. Some sports or activities will require short and very intense efforts, others will require endurance, and « working » activities will require endurance as well as increased attention over time.

Depending on his age, but especially the duration and intensity of his activity, there is a Pro Team recipe and a protocol, adapted to your dog, regardless of its breed.

For specific activities or performances, supplementation is a recommended complementary solution for the preparation and recovery of the dog athlete.
